Exclusive: Snackex 2019 – Sharing Novelties and Insight with the Industry

Snackex returned for its 18th show this year to Barcelona, June 27-28, after its previous edition was hosted in Vienna, Austria. Some 160 trade fair exhibitors showcased novel solutions to help snack manufacturers meet consumer demand for the latest snacking must-haves, while conference delegates gained insights into the snack market trends, to help them understand how consumer preferences will evolve in the next few years.
Conference speakers highlighted some of the global and regional market research data and offered a broader view on consumer preferences across European markets, all reunited under a common theme titled “Snackification – Take advantage of business opportunities”.
Keynote speakers included David Jago, Trends & Innovations director, Mintel who held two presentations – one on the global snacking trends – and the other on how to attract Generation Z consumers and create products they can relate to, while Jared Koerten, industry manager – Food & Nutrition, Euromonitor International brought forth data on the state of the European savory snacks industry as a whole.
From suppliers of ingredients and raw materials, to processors, equipment, machinery and packaging manufacturers, all the various players of the snacking industry were represented on the show floor.
Well-known machinery firms, such as Heat & Control, Key Technology, Bühler Group, tna Europe, Tomra Sorting, Mettler-Toledo, Rosenqvists, BluePrint Automation BV, Bosch Packaging, , among others, were complemented by ingredients, flavors and raw materials manufacturers, such as, Fromatech, , Avena Foods, Frutarom Savoury Flavours, Ceylan Manufactures, and others.
This edition, the fair covered an area of 6,500sqm, which housed more than 160 exhibitors coming from 29 countries from Europe and beyond.
Snackex takes place once every two years and it brings together all stages of the demand and supply chain providing a unique opportunity to buy, sell and network with top management, qualified buyers and key decision-makers. The tradeshow is organized by ESA (The European Snacks Association) and targets the savory snack professionals in Europe and beyond, serving as the pre-eminent business meeting place for the whole industry.
