New logistics centre in Penza, Russia, to hold 15,000 tones

The construction of logistics centre has started in the Russian region Penza, new well-equipped hangars will have the capacity to hold up to 15,000 tones of potatoes all year round.
Following the production logistics requirements, a dispatch building for potato packaging is to appear in the nearest future. By 2018, the stores will be able to hold more than 200 000 tones of vegetables.
Penza region should produce at least 500,000 tones of potatoes in order to create job positions and to avoid dependence on import.
“It is important for these potatoes to get to the shops, food services, kindergartens, schools; and for us to sell the potatoes outside Penza region as well,” said the governor of Penza region, Vasily Bochkarev, according to freshplaza.com.
This year, Penza region is likely to be among the top potato producers. These results were achieved due to the cooperation with foreign experts and implementation of innovative irrigation systems.
