The ‘Sabor del Año 2023’ Title Goes to Princesa Amandine Potato Variety

For the second consecutive year, the ‘Princesa Amandine’ potato wins the ‘Sabor del Año 2023’ title, which is determined by consumer preference in a survey conducted by impartial sensory laboratories.
Consumers evaluated the product and scored it on a variety of factors, including taste, appearance, fragrance, and texture, to choose the winner.
“Getting the Sabor del Año 2023 (2023 Flavor of the Year) award for Princesa Amandine for the second time in a row is confirmation that our potato and its fine, rich, and creamy flavor have made a deep impression on the Spanish consumer,” Jean Michel Beranger, general director of the Princesa Association Amandine Iberica mentioned, cited by Valencia Fruits.
Consumers, chefs, and gourmets all laud its thin skin, firm flesh, smooth texture, and light fresh butter flavor. The same kind is always available, and thanks to its outstanding cooking resistance, it may be cooked in practically any way, including steamed, boiled, browned, sautéed, and even pureed and baked.
This new 2023 Flavor of the Year seal for retail products granted by the Global Quality Iberia group will be included in the three formats in which the potato is currently available: 1.5 kg mesh with 45-65 mm caliber potatoes for larger preparations; the 400Gr microwave format, with a smaller caliber of 35-45 mm for quick cooking in 7 minutes; the new Quinta Gama cardboard box format, a potato that comes pre-cooked steamed, in its juice, seasoned with herbs Provencal, ready to be heated in 2 or 3 minutes.
