Fruit Logistica: Sorma Group Launched a New Box-filling Robot

Sorma Group introduced a new box-filling robot at Fruit Logistica this year, which is another way to increase automation in the post-harvest processing of fruits and vegetables. The device, which makes it easier to stack packets inside boxes, is prepared for retail in all markets.
Like many of Sorma’s most recent innovations, this one too stands out from the competition due to its speed as well as the delicacy and accuracy with which it completes the task: the new robot can place up to 50–60 packs per minute, meeting the requirements of a weighing and packaging line and being able to replace one or two production-line workers.
Furthermore, the automated hand ensures delicate handling of the product: unlike traditional filling machines, which push the pack around the belt before dropping it into the final containers, this machine uses an articulated robot to handle and position the product. As a result, the hand shields against any collisions, and a last oscillation helps to precisely position the pack within the box.
In addition, this device is incredibly adaptable; the robot can handle the whole Sorma line of net packaging solutions because of its universal automated hand.
The device, created at Sorma’s German facility, is prepared for retail sale in every market that the Cesena, Italy-based Group serves.
