Europe: Up to Four Weeks Delay For the New Potato Season

The most recent IFA intelligence indicates that the new potato season will be delayed by three to four weeks in many European nations.
“In the U.K. the weather has also improved and plantings have resumed. For chipping varieties, grower confidence remains strong and some sellers have pushed values higher again for best samples on repeat order trade,” the IFA experts added.
Retail and consumer demand are still strong in Ireland. In many locations, the recent dry weather has provided growers with their first chance to start preparing the ground and planting early and maincrop varieties.
“As many media outlets have reported, stocks will likely run extremely tight towards the end of June,” the IFA experts concluded.
