Royal Avebe Acquires Solan to Expand Potato Flakes and Granules Business

Royal Avebe has strengthened its position in the potato processing market with the acquisition of Solan, a producer of flakes and granules. The agreement was signed on 18 August, giving Avebe full ownership of Solan, which operates a production site in Głowno, Poland.
Avebe said the move allows it to diversify its product range in line with its growth strategy. “With Solan, we accelerate access to knowledge and experience in processing potatoes into flakes and granules and commercialise them. We can expand our product portfolio and it will contribute to Avebe’s growth,” said chief executive David Fousert.
The Solan facility employs more than 100 staff and runs two production lines—one for flakes and one for granules. The company works with about 140 local arable farmers for raw material supply and is regarded as a leading regional employer.
The Solan brand will continue within the Avebe portfolio. “Customers can rely on one integrated supplier and will have access to a more complete portfolio of potato solutions,” Fousert said. “Moreover, this acquisition offers – with our technical expertise and global network – opportunities to further innovate within a more complete range of potato products.”
Avebe added that the deal supports opportunities for Averis, its breeding subsidiary, to strengthen potato cultivation in the region with an expanded variety package.
