Aviko Begins Expansion Works At Gansu Dehydration Site In China

Aviko has confirmed the start of expansion works at its potato dehydration facility in Gansu province, China, marking the transition of a previously announced investment programme into the execution phase.
The development follows Aviko’s broader China expansion strategy outlined earlier in 2025, when the company detailed plans to increase its production footprint for dried potato ingredients in response to rising demand across Asian food manufacturing markets. At that time, Aviko highlighted both its Xilinhot and Gansu operations as key pillars of its long-term growth strategy in the region.
The December 2025 announcement relates specifically to the commencement of expansion activities at the Gansu site, which has operated for more than a decade as a joint venture with local partners. Aviko has not disclosed additional details regarding investment size or capacity changes associated with the current phase of works.
According to the company, the new production line at Gansu remains scheduled to become operational by the end of 2027, consistent with timelines previously communicated.
Potato dehydration capacity in China plays an increasingly important role in supplying ingredients for a wide range of applications, including mashed potato products, snacks, soups, sauces and ready meals. Aviko’s Gansu facility is positioned to serve both domestic Chinese demand and selected export markets within the wider Asia-Pacific region.
No further technical or commercial details were released alongside the confirmation that expansion works have begun.
