Tong To Highlight Integrated Handling Technology At BP2025

Tong Engineering will use its presence as silver sponsor at BP2025 in Harrogate to demonstrate how its latest handling and automation systems are being deployed to help UK potato growers increase efficiency, manage labour pressures, and future-proof their operations.
Field-To-Pack Systems Take Centre Stage
The fourth-generation family business, now in its 95th year, will present its current line-up of stand-alone machines and fully configured, field-to-pack systems. The company positions its approach as a direct response to farm and packhouse demands for higher throughput, improved crop protection, and reduced operating costs.
For the first time, Tong will exhibit alongside its Swift Lift range, consolidating both brands across an indoor stand (Hall 1, Stand 114) and adjacent outdoor display. The company says the combined presentation will allow visitors to explore a wide selection of advanced post-harvest equipment in one place.
Collaborative Technology And Integrated Solutions
Tong will also host several of its established manufacturing partners, including VHM and Verbruggen, reflecting its strategy of offering one of the UK’s most comprehensive integrated handling and packing solutions. The company emphasises that close collaboration with specialist engineering firms enables it to deliver streamlined sorting, conveying, and palletising workflows for growers of all sizes.
New Equipment Launches Responding To Market Demand
BP2025 will mark the debut of several new machines developed in response to customer requirements. Tong describes these as next-generation solutions designed to offer more efficient, gentle, and intelligent crop handling, reinforcing the company’s focus on continual investment in research and development.
Managing Director Edward Tong said: “Our customers don’t just need machines that work today. They need systems that will keep them competitive for years to come. That’s why we see every project as a long-term partnership.”
Lifecycle Support As A Differentiator
The company continues to highlight full lifecycle support—covering commissioning, training, servicing, and upgrades—as a central component of its offer to producers navigating evolving operational and labour market challenges.
“We take real pride in supporting growers and producers of every size, with single machines to full turnkey projects,” Edward Tong said. “BP2025 gives us the chance to showcase new equipment from both Tong and Tong SwiftLift, including set-ups designed to bring advanced, efficient handling in a cost-effective way. These configurations demonstrate that large-scale equipment isn’t always required to see real gains in handling efficiency and performance. We look forward to welcoming visitors to our stand as we unveil our new machines alongside our renowned hospitality.”
