BEST Gets Better
BEST (Belgian Electronic Sorting Technology)has launched new versions of its Genius, Felix and Ixus sorters – which have just been unveiled at IPA in Paris.
For BEST, innovation means not only creating new concepts, but also doing research to retrofit existing equipment with the latest and greatest, according to customer feedback and needs.
The Genius remains a long-life, high-performance machine with proven technology. It now features a new design for improved maintenance and to assure the company’s philosophy of low operation costs. The sorter has a new frame, which results in better sanitation, extensions are easier to install in the field and belt exchange design has been significantly improved for quick replacement.
The novelties are not limited to the mechanics, also in the optical configuration, BEST continues to excel. The Genius can be equipped with a new BEST camera, exclusively developed for BEST, and with a spectrum specifically adapted to sorting. On top of that, BEST also generated a handful of other optical innovations based on camera technology. The cameras feature new industrial high quality BEST lenses, with an optimal focus. BEST now offers multiple options and unlimited optical combinations for its Genius belt sorter.
The sorter’s software now features a general shape sorting toolbox, which allows the user, to easily sort on shape characteristics.
The gross defect Felix sorter, placed at the beginning of the processing line, has a new application which now also takes out the bigger foreign material and major discolorations out of carrots. A special infeed shaker and stabilization roll are specifically developed in order to generate results close to perfection.
BEST also launches a new version of its x-ray sorters, the IXUS Bulk 800. This larger x-ray sorter has a revolutionary new design that is easier to integrate. The remote control features makes this unit a walk in the park to integrate in your processing line.
