Largo Foods – on of the largest Irish manufacturer and distributor of premium snack-foods has announced it has changed its name to Tayto Snacks, which is the company’s flagship brand. The line of chips was established in 1954.

Largo Foods has an extensive portfolio which includes several other chips brands including Hunky Dorys, King and Velvet Crunch. Moreover, the firm is also the Irish distributor for KP Snacks products such as the thick-cut, ridged crisps McCoy’s. According to the company’s officials, the move comes in homage of the strength, longevity and recognition of their oldest chips brand.

The newly-named entity – which is now wholly owned by German group Intersnack – is headquartered in Ashbourne, Co. Meath and has almost 400 employees, as well as adjoining 80,00 sq. ft. manufacturing facility.

According to the official website, the company sources its raw ingredients locally from Co. Meath and Co. Dublin potato growers. Saturna, Lady Clare and Rosetta are the varieties most predominantly used to make the snacks.  Tayto Snacks says its chips are cooked in 100% hi-oleic sunflower oil.
