Growing ‘Karú’ Potato Variety Under Controlled Climatic Circumstances in Panama

The production of the first potato seeds from the “Karú” variety, grown under controlled climatic circumstances in Panama utilizing Sprout AI’s unique fogponics method, was recently declared as having been completed by the company.
The Agriculture Innovation Institute of Panama (IDIAP), the nation’s top center for agricultural research, and Sprout AI collaborated on this initiative as part of their agreement. At a ceremony held at the Companies COE on May 11th, 2023, the seeds were given to IDIAP, the Agriculture Ministry, and farmer representatives.
The goal of this initiative is for the Panamanian government to switch over to a national crop grown using the Sprout AI system, replacing the country’s present import of potato seeds for growing from Germany. The Sprout AI habitats’ fogponics production is encouraging, and the IDIAP visit emphasizes the significance of technology in agriculture and its potential impact on food security in Panama.
TheraCann Australia Benchmark Pty Ltd, another subsidiary of TheraCann International Benchmark Corp (TIBC), and Universidad Especializada de las Americas (UDELAS), Sprout AI’s strategic partner, have also signed a letter of intent to offer select students internships at TheraCann’s Center of Excellence (COE) in Panama. During their three to six-month internships, these students will have the chance to learn about how the Sprout AI Controlled Environment Urban Indoor Cultivation Systems function.
“We have learned about one of the most extraordinary experiences in the field of food cultivation technology… The technology is extraordinary. This experience also allowed us to sign a collaboration agreement… that will serve as a basis for university internships for students in both food safety and biomedicine so that these students can study, develop skills, and contribute to this great experience that we have in Panama,” said Sr. Juan Bosco Bernal, director of the Universidad Especializada de las Americas, according to a recent press release.
Finally, Sprout AI Inc. announced the Year End Audit filings ending January 31st, 2023. The audit is now ongoing, and Dean Callaway, Sprout AI’s Chief Financial Officer, is slated to submit the report by May 31st, 2023.
Sprout AI is also pleased to welcome Kevin McGeough to its board of directors. Kevin contributes a variety of knowledge and experience to Sprout AI, thanks to his MBA, culinary degree, and competence in the field of agro-tech. Given his extensive knowledge of the agriculture industry, his addition to the board is expected to greatly help the company’s growth.
“Sprout AI is revolutionizing the vertical farming industry, and I am thrilled to join the board to help guide its future growth. I believe that my background and experience will be instrumental in developing and implementing strategies that will enable Sprout AI to continue to excel,” Kevin McGeough mentioned.
Sprout AI is committed to advancing the vertical farming industry and looks forward to continued growth and innovation in the future.
