IFA: Lifting of Potato Crops Continues Across Europe

Rain has reportedly hampered the reported 35% clearance rate of potato crops in Northern France. Only 15% of the lifting has been completed due to heavy rain in Normandy.
Lifting progress in Holland was reported as being 20% last week while lifting for storage in Belgium is starting slowly.
In the U.K. potato yields are also reported to be disappointing compared to last year.
In Ireland, the retail sales and domestic potato consumption remain stable.
“Some progress in terms of liftings has been made across the country but extremely late plantings means that crops will take time. Conditions in Donegal are reported to be very difficult. Again, there are continued reports that later planted crops in particular are not yielding as well as expected,” the IFA potato experts concluded.
