Trade Agreement Signed by Aviko and Averis for Disease Resistant Seed Potatoes Acquisition

Averis, a division of the potato starch group Royal Avebe that specializes in the creation, propagation, and distribution of starch potato varieties, and Aviko, the biggest producer of potato products in the out-of-home market in Europe and among the top five global market leaders, have inked a trade agreement for seed potatoes.
This enables Aviko to address the growing demand for resistant types and provides its growers with direct access to Averis seed potatoes.
“The new collaboration with Averis, a global specialist in the breeding of robust varieties with a broad spectrum of resistances, is an important link for us to achieve further sustainability and assurance of the cultivation of high dry matter potatoes. At the same time, it strengthens the foundation of Averis, which is in the interest of the development of the entire potato sector in the Netherlands,” Dick Zelhorst, Chief Agro & Supply Chain Officer Aviko, announced via LinkedIn.
“We are delighted to partner with Aviko and take this next step in the strategic development of Averis. With this collaboration, we are taking an important step in the implementation of our Route 2030 strategy. We are adding value to Averis’ unique position and that is to the advantage of the approximately 2,000 members who are affiliated with Avebe,” Marleen de Rond-Schouten PhD, Managing Director Agro & Strategy Avebe, which includes Avéris, concluded.
