British Potato 2025 To Bring Full Supply Chain Together In Yorkshire

The British Potato Event (BP2025) will return to the Yorkshire Event Centre on 19–20 November 2025, bringing the UK’s potato supply chain together for two days of technical updates, market analysis, and industry engagement. Organisers say the biennial exhibition will again span the full value chain “from seed to supermarket,” with exhibitors, machinery demonstrations, seminars, and BASIS and NRoSO-certified learning opportunities.
The event opens from 9:00 to 17:30 on Wednesday and from 9:00 to 16:00 on Thursday, with complimentary parking and on-site registration. Pre-registration remains free and offers fast-track entry.
Exhibitors Return To Harrogate
Companies confirmed for the 2025 edition include Agrimech and GRIMME, alongside a broad range of agronomy, inputs, storage, handling, machinery, and processing suppliers. Organisers have released a full exhibitor list through the official show directory.
BASIS And NRoSO Points Available
BP2025 will again offer continuing professional development points for attendees. BASIS members can claim up to six points per day—two points for attendance and up to four additional points for completing the BASIS Knowledge Trail or attending qualifying seminars. NRoSO participants may claim up to six points for one day of the show under the same structure. Points will be registered at the BASIS Registration Ltd stand in the main foyer.
Technical Seminars Across Two Days
Seminars remain a cornerstone of the event, requiring no prior booking and offering Q&A sessions at the end of each talk. The programme for 2025 spans plant health, agronomy, genetics, supply chain resilience, and market trends, with sessions chaired by research institutes, growers, and commercial sector leaders.
The Wednesday programme opens with “Managing the Threat From a Changing Late Blight Landscape,” chaired by Prof. Ian Toth of The James Hutton Institute, with contributions from Dr David Cooke (The James Hutton Institute), plant geneticist Dan Milbourne (Teagasc), and Andy Cunningham, Potato Technical Manager at Syngenta UK.
FMC will hold a commercial technical session on Cyazypyr® active ingredient, delivered by Antonia Walker, Commercial Technical Manager for the North.
Market positioning and consumption trends follow in “Securing the Potato’s Place on the Plate,” chaired by James Young of McCain, featuring Prof. David Hughes and Cedric Porter of World Potato Markets. Later in the day, Dr James A. Price of The James Hutton Institute will present the official release of PCN Action Scotland’s decision-support system for potato cyst nematode (PCN) management.
The afternoon closes with “Future Changes to UK’s Supply of Seed Potatoes,” chaired by Richard Baker, Managing Director of HZPC UK Ltd., with speakers Phil McCaul, Operations and Commercial Director at Greenvale, and Mike Wilson, Chair of the SPO and Aberdeenshire seed grower.
Supply Chain Innovation On Thursday
The Thursday agenda begins with “Transformative Reduced Input Potatoes,” chaired by Simon Fox, Director and Founder of Emerald Research, featuring contributions from Dr Katherine Steele, Reader in sustainable crop production at Bangor University, and Chris Dustow of Colwith Farm in Cornwall.
Later in the day, a variety-focused session—“Maris Piper Has Had Its Day, Or Has It?”—will be chaired by Alex Godfrey, Chair of GB Potatoes, with speakers including Katy Pook, Head of Brand and Marketing at Greenvale, and Gordon Stark, Director at Taygrow.
