At the Potato Expo 25 (January 9–10, Orlando, Florida), Haith and its US agent Fox Solutions will highlight packhouse improvements and box filling.

Haith will advertise its newest line of box handling products, which includes the Quanta-Tip automatic electric rotary box tippler and the QuantaFill box filler. Additionally, Fox will be exhibiting Haith’s recent ‘Factory of the Future’ installation for one of the top potato packhouses in North America, which included Newtec optical sorters and weighers.

Rob Highfield, Haith’s sales manager, says the company has “Recognised a trend in North America where customers who have traditionally bulk stored potatoes are moving to a box system as they look to supply the latest potato packhouses which receive crop in boxes to maintain crop quality and yield. This is where the QuantaFill is a perfect fit for large-scale growers operating self-propelled harvesters as they need to fill boxes back at the store at rates of 50 tons per hour or more.”

The operator can insert stacks of empty boxes into the machine thanks to QuantaFill’s extra box-handling capabilities. After that, the boxes are automatically moved to the filling module after being de-stacked. To significantly reduce forklift movements, the boxes are re-stacked after being filled so that the operator can remove them from the line in pairs.

As well as the QuantaFill, Haith will be promoting one of its most popular products – the patented Root-Veg Polisher. Now in its fourth generation, Haith’s Root Veg Polisher offers a wide range of brush options and easy maintenance.

“We have sold more than 600 Root-Veg Polishers to customers around the world, which we think makes the machine the market leader in its field,” Highfield mentioned.

Visitors to booth 207 will also be able to learn about the latest Newtec multi-drop sorter and Celox optical sorter, which Haith has integrated into over 100 projects, including The Little Potato Company’s ‘Factory of the Future’ in 2024.

It appears that potato growers and packers on both sides of the Atlantic are facing similar issues in terms of labor shortages and need to do more with less to operate more efficiently.
