Import Permits for Seed Potatoes in Egypt Open for Limited Time

The Central Authority of Plant Quarantine in Egypt has stated that import permits for seed potatoes will be available only from April 15th until May 15th.
The required documents are: – statement of the required quantity to import; – statement of the origin; – varieties requested; – growers’ numbers; – expected arrival date for the first and last shipment.
Field inspection for this year has been postponed, the Egyptian Central Administration of Plant Quarantine informed its Dutch and French counterparts in March 2023. The Netherlands, the second-largest exporter after Scotland, managed to send 48,919 tons of seed potatoes to Egypt in 2022.
“Dutch companies need to take note of this announcement, as not applying for an import permit during this period means that they will not be able to export to Egypt during this year,” according to a recent announcement from the Ministry of Agriculture, Nature, and Food Quality in The Netherlands.
