U.K.: A Good Demand for White Potato Free Buy

White potato contract movement in the U.K. is keeping up with crop increase, and free buy is in good demand.
“Some buyers have moved to dual-purpose varieties including Panther to cover demand. A full skin set is becoming a priority. First reds are unlikely to be ready before the end of the first week in August but warmer weather forecast for next week should help skin set,” the latest IFA potato report reveals.
The potato demand in Ireland has somewhat decreased due to this week’s higher temperatures and the approaching holidays.
“More quantities of Queens are now available which is alleviating supply. Good quality and yields are being reported. Growing conditions for main season crops have been good lately but development is very variable depending on planting date. Crops are about three weeks behind normal years,” the IFA potato experts concluded.
