Ore-Ida Introduces ‘CrouTots,’ a Potato-Based Twist on Salad Croutons

Ore-Ida, the Kraft Heinz-owned brand best known for inventing the Tater Tot, has introduced CrouTots, a new limited-edition product designed to add a potato-based crunch to salads. The launch draws inspiration from the #SaladTok trend, where users combine traditional salads with crispy fries or tots for added texture and flavor.
“For over 70 years, Ore-Ida has been bringing golden, crispy potatoes to tables across America,” said Casey Turro, Director of Marketing for Ore-Ida. “When we saw fans swapping croutons for Tater Tots on social media, we knew we had to make it official. With CrouTots, we’re taking that idea to the next level, giving salads a craveable potato crunch only Ore-Ida can deliver.”
The product aims to bridge social media-inspired meal ideas with a convenient retail offering. According to data cited by the brand from the New York Post, 77% of Americans say they make mealtime decisions based on trending online content.
CrouTots are available for a limited time beginning September 30, exclusively through delivery platform Gopuff in New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, Atlanta, and Pittsburgh. Each 4 oz bag retails for US$1.50.
The launch follows Ore-Ida’s strategy of reinterpreting classic potato formats for modern consumers. Owned by The Kraft Heinz Company (Nasdaq: KHC), Ore-Ida forms part of a global portfolio that generated approximately US$26 billion in net sales in 2024, according to corporate data.
