Nestlé-owned frozen pizza brand TOMBSTONE® launches first-of-its-kind French Fry Style Crust Pizza in the U.S. retail market, leveraging potato innovation to target late-night and convenience-driven consumers.
Frozen pizza brand TOMBSTONE®, part of the Nestlé USA portfolio, has announced a major addition to its product line: a new French Fry Style Crust Pizza featuring a potato-based base. The new crust format marks the brand’s first foray into alternative bases made with potatoes and comes in two bold flavors—Loaded Bacon Cheddar and Chili Cheese—aiming to merge two iconic bar foods in a single product.
Officially launching this July across select retailers, including Walmart, the product is being positioned as a high-impact innovation in the frozen aisle, priced at a suggested retail of USD 6.49. According to TOMBSTONE®, the release is timed to align with summer snacking trends and the July 11 National French Fry Day promotion, during which consumers can enter to win free samples via the company’s sweepstakes campaign.
The brand’s decision to develop a potato-based crust reflects a growing interest in hybrid and alternative bases that deliver both gluten-free attributes and indulgent taste profiles. “This potato-powered crust brings crispy, cheesy, golden goodness to every bite – built to fuel your hunger pangs and late-night adventures,” TOMBSTONE® said in a release, describing the crust as “pizza-fry’d” and “baked to crispy perfection.”
The move follows a broader trend among frozen food manufacturers seeking to capitalize on comfort-food nostalgia while responding to evolving consumer expectations for convenience and novelty. In this case, TOMBSTONE® plays on its own identity as a brand “born in a bar,” targeting fans of casual, bar-style snacks with indulgent profiles.
