Agronico and Tolsma Build Largest Coolstore in Tasmania

The Australian company Agronico has recently launched its new coolstore in Spreyton, Tasmania, after six months of building and over eight years of planning.
The coolstore is the largest in Tasmania and possibly the largest in Australia, with a capacity to store about 8,000 tons of potatoes, according to the company, and it was built with the participation of Bison Contractors and Tolsma. It is designed to provide better customer service and support and enhance the company’s growth strategy.
For customers, the seed potatoes will be better because it can be stored and moved around less; the yields and end product will be superior, according to the company.
Potatoes will come directly from the paddocks to grading and then to the coolstore where temperature, carbon dioxide levels, and humidity will be monitored 24/7 and held at optimum levels. It maximizes the opportunity for high-quality seed. High-quality seed is vital for high yield and therefore valuable for our farmers.
Agronico officials say that they will continue to invest in infrastructure to support and maximize the capabilities as the leading and only vertically integrated supplier of quality seed potatoes in Australia.
Agronico was formed in 1985, is one of Australia’s biggest seed-potato producers, and the only one using hydroponic mini-tuber production.
