More Border Points Are Approved for Fresh Exports to Mexico

Two more points of entry have been authorized as of November 17, 2022, permitting the supply of fresh potatoes to the entire Mexican market. Fresh potato exporters from the United States can now ship to the interior of Mexico via Nuevo Laredo and Reynosa, Tamaulipas.
The two recently selected locations, which are both close to the Texas-Mexico border, will provide American exporters in the Midwest and the East more opportunities. The operational work plan that was agreed to by the United States and Mexico is followed by these point-of-entry approvals. The work plan states that two new points of entrance will be granted annually by SENASICA, the Mexican counterpart to USDA APHIS. Initially, four points of entry were approved.
The six ports now open for fresh U.S. potato shipments include Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, Tijuana, Baja California, Nogales, Sonora, Mexicali, Baja California, Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, Reynosa, Tamaulipas.
