The total amount of potatoes used by the Dutch processing industry on an annual basis is nearly 200,000 tons higher than the 3.8m tons used in 2021, particularly in the spring and early summer of 2022.

The Dutch potato processors turned 357,000 tons of potatoes into 190,000 tons of finished product in December 2022, according to Nieuweoogst. The processed volume is 30,000 tons greater than in November, and about 35,000 tons higher than in December 2021. Spud imports accounted for 45.9% of the potatoes processed in December 2022. The share of imports was even higher in December 2021: 47.8%.

The total use of potatoes for raw material supply to the Dutch industry is 3.97m tons. The total final product output from Dutch processors was 2.16m tons. The Association for the Potato Processing Industry’s processing statistics, which were released on Wednesday, make this clear.
