Super Bowl Week Potato Chips Sales Grew Sky High

According to fresh statistics from Circana, which was hired by SNAC International (SNAC), sales of savory snack foods increased to USD796m during Super Bowl Week 2023. Compared to Super Bowl Week 2022, the sales total shows an astounding 29% rise.
The data reveals that Americans consumed 53.5m kilograms of savory snacks during the latest Super Bowl Week. To put that into perspective, considering the average weight of a U.S. adult is 81 kg, that is enough snacks to fill Las Vegas’ Allegiant Stadium 16 times!
The following are the potato chip sales figures for Super Bowl Week 2023 in terms of kilograms sold, dollar value, and percentage growth over 2022: 14.5m kg of product were sold for USD216m (+17.2% from 2022)!
“The week before the Super Bowl is the most important week for the snack food industry. Every brand wants to be the go-to Super Bowl snack, just like every fan wants their team to win the Super Bowl,” Christine Cochran, President and CEO of SNAC, mentioned.
Super Bowl week ranks #1 in terms of total snack sales for the entire year. The snack data compared buying stats from Super Bowl 2023 to stats from the prior year. Notably, the most significant sales spikes during Super Bowl week were in the categories of potato chips, among others.
