Spud Industry Applicants for the Midlands Agricultural Apprenticeship Award Are Wanted

The Newark and Nottinghamshire Agricultural Society (NNAS) is looking for spud industry applicants for the Midlands Agricultural Engineering Apprenticeship Award.
The prize, organized by the society in conjunction with the Midlands Machinery Show, provides a scholarship to agricultural engineering apprentices aged 17 to 25 to help them advance in their careers.
Apprentices must now work for an agricultural engineering company and be enrolled in an academic institution.
The awards, established by Geoffrey Bond during his presidency with the backing of the NNAS, are intended to promote, celebrate, and champion primary agriculture and related sectors.
“The award is a fantastic opportunity for young engineering apprentices to get the support that they may need in their career journey,” Elizabeth Halsall, Events, Show and Development Manager at the NNAS, mentioned, cited by the British Potato Review.
One of the 2023 prize winners was Chandlers Farm Equipment apprentice Nathan Walls.
“The award has helped me in my apprenticeship. I put the money towards a new toolbox which I needed for work, and attending the show to receive my award was a nice day out,” he added.
On Thursday, November 21st, at the Midlands Machinery Show at the Newark Showground, the prize winners will be announced. They will earn GBP500, which will be given to them in two installments of GBP250 over two years.
To apply for the award, prospective applicants must fill in the application form and submit it to harriet.canovan@newarkshowground.com.
The closing date for applications is Friday, October 11th.
