Poly-clip System Advances Sustainable Net Packaging For Fresh Produce Sector

At Fruit Logistica 2026 in Berlin, sustainability and operational efficiency remained central themes in the fresh produce packaging segment. Poly-clip System used the event to present its certified net-pak® complete system and the new Somi net clipper, positioning both as practical solutions combining ecological performance with cost-effectiveness.
“The response from industry and trade has been excellent,” said Dr Alexander Giehl, CEO of Poly-clip System. “Sustainable packaging only delivers when it is reliable, flexible and operationally efficient. With net-pak®, we offer exactly this combination – designed for practical use and suitable for a variety of fruit and vegetables.”
According to the company, discussions at the show focused particularly on the industrial compostability of net-pak® components. Omar Olivas, Head of the net-pak® Business Unit, commented: “Circular solutions are gaining importance in the fresh produce sector. Industrially compostable components such as those used in net-pak® can be recycled in accordance with standards and integrated into existing production processes.”
Poly-clip System describes net-pak® as a certified complete system designed to combine ecological benefits with practical application across a range of fruit and vegetable categories.
Alongside net-pak®, the company introduced the new Somi net clipper. The machine features a compact design, automatic net tube change and the Poly-clip DC N3 600 clip module with up to 60 cycles per minute. The Somi net clipper presented at the trade fair covers product weights between 250 and 800 grams. The portfolio also includes the CGC net machine, which can handle packaging weights of up to 3,000 grams.
According to the company, trade visitors highlighted the system’s low energy consumption, the possibility of retrofitting existing systems and its process reliability.
“Poly-clip System demonstrated at Fruit Logistica 2026 that sustainable net packaging has now reached a high level of maturity,” added Dr Giehl. “Clip packaging is increasingly becoming a practical alternative to film or tray solutions.”
The company reported an overall optimistic mood at the event, noting growing interest in certified, industrially compostable packaging solutions and active consideration by companies of adjustments to their packaging systems.
Headquartered in Hattersheim am Main, Poly-clip System describes itself as the world’s largest provider of sustainable clip closure solutions, with 29 sales offices and additional sales partners worldwide. While traditionally active in meat processing and the butcher trade, the company continues to expand its presence in fresh produce and other sectors.
