Key Technology Showcases Yield-Focused Automation And Inspection Systems At Interpack 2026

Key Technology, part of the Duravant portfolio, will present a suite of processing and inspection technologies at Interpack 2026, exhibiting alongside sister companies PPM Technologies and Multiscan Technologies in Hall 6 / B73.
The company’s presence at the Düsseldorf trade fair reflects continued investment in automation systems designed to address operational efficiency, product quality and yield optimisation across food processing lines.
“Interpack draws processors and packers from every major market, and across all of them we’re hearing the same priority: more operational value without added complexity,” said Robert van Dorst, Managing Director, Key – EMEA/Asia. “Our portfolio is built around exactly that, grounded in decades of application expertise, equipment engineered for minimal operator intervention and a global service team that supports customers wherever they operate.”
Defect Removal And Sorting Focus
Central to Key’s showcase is the introduction of ADR X, a next-generation automatic defect removal system designed for wet potato strip processing. The system targets yield improvement by identifying and trimming defects with greater precision, enabling processors to recover a higher proportion of usable product.
ADR X builds on earlier ADR platforms with multi-channel sensing capabilities combined with advanced LED lighting and strobing technology. According to the company, this configuration improves detection of complex defects and supports more accurate trimming decisions. The system also features a redesigned mechanical structure that eliminates components above the product stream, integrates clean-in-place functionality and improves access for maintenance and sanitation.
Key will also present its COMPASS belt-fed optical sorter, designed to handle challenging product types such as wet, sticky or fragile materials. Using multi-channel sensor data and multi-wavelength strobing, the system can generate up to eight channels of inspection data. The company positions this approach as delivering detection performance comparable to laser-based systems while avoiding mechanical scanning components, reducing system complexity and long-term operating costs.
The horizontal belt configuration is intended to ensure gentle product handling at high throughput, while recipe-driven operation and simplified controls are aimed at reducing training requirements and improving consistency in production environments.
Conveying And Flow Control Systems
Complementing its inspection technologies, Key will showcase the Impulse vibratory conveyor, developed for applications requiring precise product flow control in processing and packaging lines. The system is designed to start and stop rapidly, enabling accurate metering for mixing, ingredient feeding and scale feeding.
The use of magnetic drives eliminates sliding and rotating components, reducing mechanical wear and maintenance requirements. Oil-free operation and IP65-rated enclosures are intended to support hygiene standards and reliability in demanding production conditions.
Integrated Seasoning And Inspection Solutions
Within the broader Duravant portfolio, PPM Technologies will present its Gen 3 FlavorWright All-in-One seasoning system. The system integrates liquid and dry seasoning capabilities within a single unit, targeting applications across snacks, cereals and frozen foods.
The updated model introduces enhanced drum magnets for higher-capacity applications, alongside improvements in safety and wiring design. Additional features include a stainless-steel drum option and upgrades aimed at increasing operational flexibility while maintaining consistent coating performance.
Meanwhile, Multiscan Technologies will exhibit its MXV-PACK 4015 X-ray inspection system, designed for packaged products in formats such as boxes, trays and bags. The system uses high-resolution UHD X-ray technology to detect dense contaminants that may not be identifiable through conventional inspection methods. It is engineered to handle packages up to 400 mm wide and 150 mm high, supporting inspection across a range of product categories.
Positioning Within Processing And Packaging Lines
Across its Interpack portfolio, Key Technology is positioning its systems within a broader framework of line integration, where sorting, conveying, seasoning and inspection functions operate as interconnected elements of processing efficiency.
The company continues to emphasise equipment design that reduces operator intervention, simplifies maintenance and supports consistent performance under high-throughput conditions. Within potato processing in particular, the combination of defect removal, optical sorting and precise material handling remains directly linked to yield recovery and cost control.
As processors face increasing pressure to balance efficiency with product quality and compliance requirements, the technologies presented by Key and its sister companies reflect a continued focus on automation systems that deliver measurable operational gains without adding complexity to existing production environments.
