Indian Seed Potato Group Receives Irish Investment

Indian seed potato group Utkal Tubers will get an infusion of capital via Irish agri-food group, Donegal Investment Group (DIG), a new report from Checkout writes.
DIG is said to have invested in the Bengal-based potato grower through its subsidiary, IPM Potato Group. Via the new partnership with IPM, Utkal will now have access to twelve new types of potato varieties, specially selected after an evaluation process of the soil and climate conditions it operates in.
According to analysts cited by the report, the investment is a positive step for Donegal, as the firm further diversified its geographical operations. Shares of the Irish agri-group have traded over 4% earlier this month on the back of the news that it has invested in the Indian company.
India is one of the biggest potato markets in the world, second only to China in terms of overall production.
