France Ministry of Agriculture Commits to Aid Potato Industry

The French potato industry recently received the assurance of the Minister of Agriculture that the government will provide significant financial support in the context of the COVID-19 crisis.
This aid will partially cover the costs generated by the withdrawal of the volumes of unprocessed potatoes during the health crisis, due to the almost total closure of catering activities. It is part of Article 222 of the single CMO, the benefit of which has been granted to the sector by the European Commission.
Professional organizations and services of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food, following a first constructive discussion, will meet very soon to define the aid arrangements announced.
The sector will ensure compliance with inter-professional rules in accordance with their commitments of the sector plan and the General States of Food.
