German Reproduction Potato Seed Imports Resumed by Ukrainian Distributors

Record Agro LLC (Kyiv), the official distributor of the German breeding company Europlant, has resumed deliveries of high reproduction potato seeds from Germany to Ukraine, which were stopped due to the start of the Russian military invasion.
Based on a recently Ukrainian Association of Potato Producers website announcement, Record-Agro’s director, Yuriy Dyak, reported on the import of the first batch of 22 tons of seed potatoes of the Bellarosa, Sanibel, Jelly, and Vineta varieties.
“In Ukraine came 22 tons of high reproductions varieties Bellarosa, Sanibel, Jelly, Vineta. The buyers were farms that have the status of elite farms – certified seed enterprises. They will lay seed plantings for the 2023 harvest. […] Potato seeds are currently classified by the government as critical imports. There are no problems with its deliveries. There are no queues at the border and customs. We will be able to meet the needs of all elite farms in a very short time”, Diak confirmed.
The above-mentioned Ukrainian company is currently the only one that officially imports seeds into the country.
“The work of the rest of the seed farms is complicated. They are selling seed material multiplied in Ukraine from high reproductions purchased from European breeding companies in 2021,” he concluded.
