UK: CIPC Authorizations Amended to Support Potato Industry
Last week, AHDB Potatoes advised potato growers on the various levels of Chlorpropham (CIPC) allowable in various sectors of the potato market amid the COVID-19 crisis. AHDB reports that, after working with National Farmers’ Union, Potato Processor’ Association, Fresh Potato Suppliers Association and others, it is pleased to report now that the Potato Industry CIPC Stewardship Group (PICSG) announced the following:
CIPC authorizations have been amended by the Chemicals Regulation Directorate.
Potatoes treated with CIPC at rates between 24 and 36 grams per ton may now be marketed using fresh supply chains, as long as crops are tested and are known to comply with the MRL.
Sampling of tubers for residue testing must be carried out according to EC Directive 2002/63/EC. Instructions for obtaining a sample have also been published on the organization’s website.
