Upgrade for Grimme’s Bed Formers of the BF Series
The updated BF and BFL series bed formers for the 1-, 2-, or 3-bed system were recently announced by Grimme. To accommodate the enhanced specifications for soil cultivation, the main frame has undergone a significant overhaul.
Furthermore, all models now include the recently created hydraulic stone prevention system. With the new BF 400, the BF- and BFL- series will now comprise three models, which will be available from the beginning of 2025.
“Bed formers are exposed to extreme forces, especially on stony and heavy soils. For this reason, the wall thicknesses of the main frame were increased and the connection points between the plow bodies and the main frame were reinforced. This also results in a new three-point linkage, now compatible with the standard lower linkage categories CAT 3 and CAT 4. This allows the use of larger tractors,” according to a recent press release.
The hydraulic stone protection PRO is now offered in addition to the hydraulic stone protection. Instead of a shear bolt, a hydraulic cylinder was inserted. This makes it possible for the plow body to deflect even higher if it touches a bigger stone in the ground. Another benefit is that the plow body immediately returns to its operating position when the stone protection mechanism has been activated, negating the need for the driver to step in.
“A ‘Heavy Duty’ package is offered for the plow bodies of the BFL series, which is available in combination with the new PRO stone protection system. This package includes reinforcements for the side plates and the plow body. This provides more stability, even in stony conditions, so that the side of the bed is pressed and slightly recompacted,” the company’s experts added.
For the plow bodies of the BF series, which are specifically made for medium to heavy conditions, new soil guidance plates have been developed. These soil-guiding plates are fastened to the plow’s highest section. This creates a sturdy bed and keeps the dirt from collapsing.
