U.K.’s GB Potatoes Organization Has Joined the Europatat Family

According to a recent European Potato Trade Association social media announcement, GB Potatoes from the U.K. has joined forces with Europatat as an associated member.
“We’re excited to announce that GB Potatoes organization from the U.K. has joined the Europatat family, welcome!! We look forward to working together with GB Potatoes and strengthening the already well-established collaboration with the potato sector from the other side of the Channel!” the Europatat representatives wrote.
After the AHDB potato levy board ceased to exist, leaving the potato industry without unified sector-focused representation, GB Potatoes was established in May 2022 by a small group of potato growers to fill this void and provide a cohesive and impactful voice for the sector. Today, GB Potatoes welcomes participation from all in the potato supply chain, including growers, packers, processors, seed growers, research organizations, independent advisors, and ancillary businesses.
By opening membership to all in the potato industry, GB Potatoes aims to facilitate collaboration across the industry, enabling collaborative actions to tackle the challenges confronting the sector. Some of the current projects in which GB Potatoes is involved are related to the monitoring of chlorpropham (CIPC) residues in potato stores or the fight against Blight among others.
