Egypt Shipped More Than 17,000 Tonnes of Potatoes to Southeast Asian Nations in 2022

Egypt shipped a record amount of potatoes to Southeast Asian nations by the end of 2022. Their primary market for exports, which more than quadrupled in 2017, was Indonesia.
In all, Egypt shipped more than 17,000 tonnes of potatoes to Southeast Asian nations last year, a figure that was 120% more than in 2021 and 18 times higher than in 2020, according to East Fruit data. Egypt’s largest export market was Indonesia, but supplies to Malaysia significantly decreased and shipments to other nations were insignificant.
As a consequence, Southeast Asia overtook Russia, the EU, and the Gulf States as the fourth-largest markets for Egyptian potatoes in 2017. It’s interesting to note that Egypt also sent potatoes there in October, which contributed to a record volume, in addition to the usual exporting months of spring and summer.
