Growth in Finland and Estonia’s Potato Chip Sales

In Finland, overall food sales are declining, but potato chips are rising. In Estonia, a comparable trend is seen. According to Coop supermarkets’ head of communications Martin Miido, potato chips and snacks in general are increasingly popular in their establishments.
The Scandinavian trend of offering healthier chip options is making its way to Estonia, including making sure products do not contain palm oil and are made of potatoes and not meal.
Premium and niche product sales are down, while discounted produce remains very popular.
Data from Statistics Estonia saw the sales revenue of food shops fall by 1 percent in October year-over-year.
