Kazakh Suppliers Sold Potatoes Abroad Worth USD31.7m

Kazakhstan shipped the most potatoes in the past decade. Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan were the primary importers.
“Based on the results of five months of this year, Kazakh suppliers sold potatoes abroad worth USD31.7m, which is almost four times more than in the same months of 2023. The current value is the highest for this period in at least a decade,” DATA HUB informs, citing statistical data, and published by APK News agency.
In terms of weight, the country’s producers received a maximum of ten years: 294,000 tons in five months this year compared to 108,000 tons in 2023. As a result, the average price rose as seed potatoes were exported. This time, Kazakhstan sold the product for an average price of USD644 per ton, which is seven times higher than a year before.
“There is no current operational data on the sale of potatoes on the domestic market. We can only roughly estimate how many potatoes the population could eat: in the first quarter, per capita consumption was 3.8 kilos per month, excluding catering,” the experts concluded.
