The 2023 U.S. and Canada Potato Output Reveals One Digit Growth Y-O-Y
Estimates for the combined potato output of the U.S. and Canada in 2023 are 28.5m tons, an increase of 8% above the prediction for 2022.
A 10% increase over the previous year is expected in the amount of potatoes produced in the U.S., estimated at 22m tons. Growers of potatoes in Canada collected 6.45m tons, a 4% increase over 2022.
Together, the U.S., Canada, and Mexico produced 28.3m tons of potatoes in 2022, a 2% decrease from the 2021 prediction. The U.S. is expected to produce 20.1m tons of potatoes in 2022, a 3% decrease from 2021. Growers of potatoes in Canada collected 6.2m tons in 2022, a 2% increase over 2021. Growers of potatoes in Mexico harvested 2.07m tons in 2022, a 4% decrease from 2021.
Servicio de Información Agroalimentaria y Pesquera (SIAP), Statistics Canada, and the National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) collaborated to compile the results of potato production for three nations into a single report. Every piece of information in this study is derived from previously released data.
