US Northwest Potato Stocks Counted 9,24m Tons in December 2021

Beginning with December 1, 2021, potato stocks in Idaho totaled 5,18m tons, and the disappearance of the Idaho crop to date was 2,21m tons.
NASS USDA data shows also that in the same period, the spud stocks in Oregon totaled 1,12m tons, with a crop disappearance to date of 308,000 tons. In Washington, on December 1, potato stocks totaled 2,91m tons. Disappearance to date totaled 2,31m tons.
“Nationally, the major potato states held 14,8m tons in the storage on December 1, 2021, down 2% from December 1, 2020. Potatoes in storage accounted for 64% of the states’ 2021 production compared with 64% a year earlier. The indicated potato disappearance, at 8,28m tons, was down 1% from the same period last year. Season-to-date shrink and loss, at 739,200 tons, was 10% higher than the same time last year,” same data shows.
Processors in Idaho and Malheur County, Oregon used 1,51m tons of potatoes for the season, down slightly from December l, 2020. In Washington and other Oregon counties, 1,96m tons of potatoes had been used by processors for the season, up 10% from the previous year. Processors in the 8 States used 4,25m tons of potatoes for the season, up 5% from December 2020.
