Special Edition Just Crisps Jalapeno Potato Chips Out Now For Charity
A farmer’s audacious attempt to row 4,829 kilometers across the Atlantic Ocean to raise money for charity is supported by Just Crisps potato chips manufacturer in Staffordshire. 40,000 special edition packets of potato chips have been made by Anthony Froggatt, owner of the renowned Just Crisps and Just Oil brands, in support of farmer Rod Adlington and the Brightsides crew, who rowed in support of the Get A-Head Charitable Trust and Meningitis Now on January 3.
The potato chips, which are made by hand at the Rugeley farm of the Froggatt family, come in bags with unique stickers that promote awareness of the Brightsides and a QR code that allows donors to make direct contributions to the organization, Express&Star recently wrote. To make 40,000 special edition packages for the Brightsides, about six tons of potatoes were needed.
Potato Chips to Fight Meningitis
Before he left, Adlington, the proprietor of Adlington Ltd. and an award-winning turkey farmer from Solihull, expressed his amazement at the kindness displayed by Froggatt and his crew. Adlington is accompanied on the cross-Atlantic row from Lanzarote to Antigua by crew members Guy Minshall, a farmer from Kenilworth, Alex Perry, a paratrooper in the British Army, and Anna Williams, a veterinarian from Lancashire. The group left Lanzarote on January 3, and it will probably take them a few weeks to do the task. Adlington’s son Barney passed away from meningitis at the age of three within 24 hours of being diagnosed.
The Brightsides are racing against two other teams in the 4,829-kilometer Atlantic Dash Race, one of the hardest rowing competitions worldwide, as they try to maneuver their specially-built rowing boat, Mrs. Nelson, through 40-foot waves. The crew will only get 90 minutes of sleep at a time.
The challenge, which seeks to collect a minimum of GBP250,000 for charity, has already garnered the backing of many firms, including UK legal firm Lodders Solicitors, Coventry-based commercial property specialists Bromwich Hardy, and many others.
Distribution of these special edition potato chips to independent stores, farm shops, delis, and pubs throughout the UK is currently underway.
