Lidl Ireland Starts Selling Meade White Potatoes in 100% Compostable Bags

Lidl Ireland has announced it has introduced its first 100% compostable bag of its kind for potatoes.
The supermarket chain’s Meade White Potatoes are packed in 100% Seedling certificate compostable bag that uses FSC certified sustainably-sourced paper, strengthen with starch and printed with water-based ink, the company said in a statement on LinkedIn. The window of the bag is made with corn-starch based netting.
This innovative solution has eliminated all conventional plastic from the packaging making it 100% compostable and suitable for disposal in all consumers brown bins for industrial composting.
