Higher Prices for The European Premium Potatoes

Those that have high-quality potato tubers samples are self-assured and persistently try to drive up costs across Europe. The expectation is that prices will rise in the fresh industry.
Exporters are reportedly “hovering” in search of potato sales in Spain and Eastern Europe, but prices are now too high. Due to the gasoline strike, travel from France has been halted for the past week.
“World Potato Markets reports that prices in Poland continue to rise and may reach a record for the month of October. The increased numbers of refugees from Ukraine are creating additional demand but there is also strong interest for Polish potatoes from importers in Hungary and Romania,” a recent IFA report reveals.
Due to the extremely wet weather during the last week, the harvesting of potatoes came to an abrupt halt in many regions of Ireland. The weather forecast for the upcoming week likewise appears uncertain.
“There are reports of some quality issues with current conditions. Due to storage costs, harvest was already delayed in regions, current conditions will drive this out further. Home consumption and retail demand have picked up with demand for the processing sector also seeing a boost with the bank holiday weekend and mid-term break. The price of peeling material remains in the region of EUR230- EUR270,” the report concludes.
