The Final U.S. Tri-states Values of All Potatoes Sold in 2022

Idaho’s potato crop was sold for a total of USD1.41bn in 2022, a 35% increase over 2021. In Idaho, the average price for potatoes during the marketing year was USD250 per ton, an increase of USD80 per ton from the previous year.
The price of the 2022 potato crop in Oregon was USD245m, an increase of 12% from the previous year. The price of potatoes was USD206 per ton, an increase of USD25.6 per ton from the previous year.
The value of the potatoes Washington sold in 2022 increased by 33% from 2021 to USD883m. Potatoes sold for an average price of USD197.6 per ton during the marketing year, a USD42.6 per ton increase from the previous year.
In Idaho, potato production for 2022 totaled 6.77m tons, down 9% from 2021. In Oregon, production was 1.44m tons, down 2% from 2021. Production in Washington was 5.34m tons, up 4% from 2021. The combined production for the Three States was 61% of U.S. potato production in 2022.
“Processors in Idaho used 4.31m tons of potatoes for the season. Malheur County, Oregon used 538,720 tons of potatoes for the season. The combined Idaho and Malheur County, Oregon usage was up 4% from the previous year. In Washington, 3.36m tons of potatoes had been used by processors for the season. In the other parts of Oregon, 1.65m tons cwt of potatoes had been processed. The combined Washington and other Oregon usage was down 6% from the previous year. Processors in the Eight States used 12.32m tons of potatoes for the season, down 1% from the previous year,” the most recent USDA press release revealed.
