DLG Markets To Stage Live Potato Planting Ahead Of PotatoEurope 2026

European sugar beet and potato growers will gain early insight into the technologies and field demonstrations planned for this year’s PotatoEurope and SugarBeet Expo during a technical preview event scheduled for April in Germany.
The preview, organized by DLG Markets GmbH, will take place on April 21, 2026 at Rittergut Gestorf in Springe near Hanover, the same site that will host the two exhibitions later this year.
PotatoEurope and SugarBeet Expo will be held on September 9–10, 2026, bringing together innovations across the sugar beet and potato sectors. According to the organizers, the side-by-side trade fairs will showcase developments in breeding, fertilization, crop protection, agricultural machinery and processing technologies. The events will also highlight emerging themes including smart farming, digital applications and sustainable production.
The April preview will focus on the live planting of potatoes that will later be harvested during field demonstrations at PotatoEurope in September. The planting demonstration will feature potato planters supplied by Grimme, AVR and Dewulf. The machines will plant seed potatoes supplied by Interseed.
Tractor technology for the demonstration will be provided by Case IH, which serves as the exclusive tractor technology partner for the event.
The preview programme will begin with a welcome address by Wilfried Wolf, Project Manager for PotatoEurope and SugarBeet Expo. The session will include an overview of the technical programme for both exhibitions, as well as presentations on farm-level cultivation strategies for sugar beet and potatoes.
One of the speakers scheduled for the event is Friedrich Henkels, Managing Director of Agrarpartner Limberg KG, which operates the Rittergut Gestorf farm where the trade fairs will take place.
The technical programme will conclude with a live field presentation of potato planting technologies, followed by opportunities for participants to interact with equipment manufacturers.
The preview event will run from 10:30 to 13:00 and will conclude with a networking session. Organizers have indicated that April 28, 2026 has been reserved as an alternative date should adverse weather conditions prevent field operations on the scheduled day.
